Raptology is a raptor & wildlife education group based in Iowa City, IA. We seek to educate the public by providing up close and unique experiences with birds of prey. With the help of our avian partners we hope to inspire the next generation to love and respect raptors and actively work to protect them, as well as the environment that sustains us all.

Raptology’s avian ambassadors are not pets – they are wild animals and belong to the US Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS). Raptology holds education permits issued by USFWS and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, which allow us to house, care for, and present these birds in accordance with state and federal laws.

All raptors and other migratory birds are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. This treaty makes it illegal for anyone to take, possess, import, export, transport, sell, purchase, barter, or offer for sale, purchase, or barter, any migratory bird, or the parts, nests, or eggs of such a bird except under the terms of a valid permit issued pursuant to Federal regulations.

Raptology provides educational programs at nature centers, schools, environmental events, and more in the Iowa City / Cedar Rapids corridor. Contact us for more information on booking a program.
